Wikipedia -- Mark to Market Accounting

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark-to-market

"The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was passed and signed into law on October 3, 2008.

On October 7, 2008, the SEC began to conduct a study on "mark-to-market" accounting, as authorized by Sec. 133 of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.

On October 10, 2008, the FASB issued further guidance to provide an example of how to estimate fair value in cases where the market for that asset is not active at a reporting date.

On December 30, 2008, the SEC issued its report under Sec. 133 and decided not to suspend mark-to-market accounting."

For some reason Michelle Bachman and other House Republicans believe that we still need to suspend Mark to Market Accounting while the market is not trading properly.

Mark to Market downgrades the holdings value to the actual depressed value, even though we are in an abnormal trading pattern after we had a financial cyber terror attack on our banking system in which the Saudi's or Chinese tried to remove $550 billion dollars within a 2-hour time period last Sept.

It's even suspected that China has been raiding the World Bank via online cyber terror.

Here is info on a bill to repeal the Congressional pay raise:
Every Huckpac candidate who is already in congress needs to co-sponsor HR156

Campaign for Liberty recently gathered over 20 organizations together from the right, the left, and all over the rest of the political spectrum to oppose the 2010 Congressional Pay Raise and to urge Congress to support Representative Harry Mitchell's H.R. 156.

During the entire 110th Congress, Representative Mitchell's bill garnered just over 30 cosponsors. In the first month and a half of the 111th, H.R. 156 already has 109 cosponsors, and its bipartisan support shows that it is the perfect vehicle to make sure the pay raise is not enacted.

We're very excited to be joined by this many other groups early on in our efforts during this Congress, and we look forward to building on this success with more initiatives this year.
Congressman Dr. Ron Paul strongly supports HR156, and was one of its first co-sponsors.

  • Will card check create or cut jobs?

Things are bad, but it could get worse…

Friday, March 6th, 2009 by Chris Singerling

The March 2009 Bureau of Labor Statistics "Employment Situation Summary" shows that 651,000 Americans lost their job in the month of February. This brings the total number of unemployed to 12.5 million and the unemployment rate to 8.1 percent. This is the highest rate in over 25 years.

Ironically, there is an ad running on national cable television from one of the Employee Free Choice Act's (card check) biggest supporters. The ad closes with the line "Because everyone should have the right to work."

All of this on the heels of an economic impact study released yesterday called "An Empirical Assessment of the Employee Free Choice Act: The Economic Implications" by the Alliance to Save Main Street Jobs. This study finds that if the Employee Free Choice Act were signed into law, meaning workers are stripped of their right to a private ballot and small businesses are forced into mandatory binding arbitration, the result would be "a one percentage point increase in the unemployment rate for every three percentage point increase in workers organized." One could conclude that if the Employee Free Choice Act results in a 10 percent increase in unionization, the unemployment rate would increase by more than three percent.

Hypothetically, if the EFCA had been passed in 2007 the unemployment rate could now be over 11.5 percent. This means that 5 million more Americans could be looking for their next paycheck because of the Employee Free Choice Act.

The Employee Free Choice Act will not put people "right to work," but instead the facts clearly state it will put them right out of the job.

    Comment:

The 'Right to work' add sounds even more sinister then the thought of the Employee Free Choice Act creating jobs.  It sounds like their thinking that if they can control the workforce, they can control the balance sheet and take over companies by Government decree that will be coming.  In other words, if there is a profit to be divided, it will go to more employees for the purpose of distributing the wealth.

Well now, if that be their intention and socialism thrives on this logic, you can bet that the prosperity of the business world will fall and the value of the worker paycheck will weaken to make room for any slacker who needs a paycheck.

Freedom Not Fear or will it be Soviet Union American Style

Imagine if you will, the continued socializing of America, where the banks are controlled by the Government, the Health Care is controlled by the Government, the small business and large are controlled by the Government.  What you say?  How can companies be under the control of Government?

It is so simple and easy to get done.  Saul has below spoke to it, warning us of how dangerous it is to allow for unions to be able to identify who is not voting for their pressure to unionize.  With such a tool, every business will be subject to union control, not because the workers want it, but because some suits want it.  What will happen then?  Tell me, what was the name of the former Soviet Nation?  UNION!  Putin says don't go there. Why?

Stand up against this Democrat and Republican alike or you not recognize your Country in a very short period of time.  Sign this petition and pass this e-mail on to everyone.

    Freedom Not Fear petition drive

    Posted: 07 Mar 2009 07:26 AM PST

Newt Gingrich asked me to Chair a national effort to protect workers rights and support "Freedom Not Fear" in the workplace.

In a closed-door meeting Tuesday, President Obama told over 100 top union officials that "we will pass the Employee Free Choice Act." It's now clear that President Obama, Big Labor, and their left-wing allies in Congress, will attempt an unprecedented power grab that is a mortal threat to our economy and our democratic values.

This is being done in a stealth manner because its backers know that this bill will not pass if the American people understand its destructive nature.

To expose and stop this effort, I've joined American Solutions as National Chairman of our "Freedom Not Fear" campaign, and you can join us by signing our petition here.

The Employee Free Choice Act, or "Card Check," would eliminate the right to vote by private ballot when deciding whether to join a union, and it would undermine the right to freely negotiate contracts.

We can't tolerate this. We must stand for freedom, not fear in the workplace. We cannot afford to be intimidated. Please stand with us now. This is about protecting our fundamental right to vote privately without coercion. It's about protecting the right of employers and employees to negotiate freely. It's about allowing businessmen and women, not bureaucrats and union bosses, to run our businesses. And in the end, it's about saving and protecting American jobs.

    Please sign the petition now.

    Saul
