Former Rep. Chocola Takes Over at Club for Growth

Susan Davis reports on politics.

Pat Toomey announced today that he is stepping down as head of Club for Growth and former Indiana Rep. Chris Chocola will take over as president of the anti-tax group.

Toomey is expected to mount a primary challenge to Pennsylvania GOP Sen. Arlen Specter, although he has not yet formally declared his bid. In a statement announcing the leadership change, the group said Toomey personally recruited Chocola "so he could pursue other opportunities."

"The Club's continuing role in affecting policy over the coming months and years will be crucial," he said in a statement, "We have already begun to see a dangerous growth in government over the past two and a half months, and we are committed to fighting for our nation's economic freedom."

my comment:

If the support for fiscal restructuring includes the consumption tax and getting rid of the IRS and all unconstitutional power violations by the federal government , then good.  If not , then 'Club for Growth' but the same old dance the GOP has and it does not cut it.  Corporate leadership has not had the Constitution in their sights, but self service.  Right Romney?

Focus on the Family Unveils True Tolerance Web site
staff reports

Initiative equips parents to counter homosexual activism in schools.

On April 17, schools across America will observe the pro-gay "Day of Silence," which is sponsored by one of the largest homosexual-activist groups in the nation. The event encourages students to stay silent through the school day, and promotes and celebrates gay-activist causes.

Focus on the Family is proud to introduce a special Web site to help parents respond in a winsome, factual way to homosexual advocacy in their child's public school.

Through TrueTolerance.org, parents can give professionally packaged information to school officials with an e-mail. The Web site is filled with information from legal experts, examples of pro-gay lesson plans that cross the line and fact-based counterpoints to the one-sided messages gay-advocacy groups frequently give public schools.

civil unions will destroy marriage

Calling marriage different from civil unions, is not being honest.  The reason for marriage being between one man and one woman is to protect the society for appropriation and for fiscal stability.  The Family structure is interwoven into all aspects of our societal.  By allowing civil union laws, you will essentially destroy marriage as a society and society's need for the home value.

USA is sitting on the World's largest reserve of OIL?!

If the below article is true, then we are fools to not tap this resource while we wait for technology to replace oil from the ground.  By the way, how did the fossils get a 1,000 feet under ground to become crude oil?  Is it possible that the earth is extracting, making oil?  And the fact that carbon is the life source of any planet, would not more carbon be better?

Subject: Here's a bit of surprise for you

---- if true what the hell is wrong with our government

The U.. S. Geological Service issued a report in April ('08) that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big.  It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since '95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota ; western South Dakota ; and extreme eastern Montana ..... check THIS out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels.. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable... at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

'When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.' says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyst.

'This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years.' reports, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.  It's a formation known as the Williston Basin, but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.'  And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada .  For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end.  Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.  However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves.... and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels.  And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight.

2. And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from TWO YEARS AGO!

U. S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World!

Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels.  On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this motherload of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling?

They reported this stunning news:  We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

- 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia

- 18-times as much oil as Iraq

- 21-times as much oil as Kuwait

- 22-times as much oil as Iran

- 500-times as much oil as Yemen

- and it's all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this?  Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy....WHY?

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped.  That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price - even with this find?  Think again!  It's all about the competitive marketplace, - it has to. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?

Got your attention/ire up yet?  Hope so!  Now, while you're thinking about it .... and hopefully upset, do this:

3. Pass this along.   If you don't take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you want to complain about gas prices .. because by doing NOTHING, you've forfeited your right to complain.

--------

Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to every one in your address book.

By the way...this is all true. Check it out at the link below!!!

GOOGLE it or follow this link.  It will blow your mind.

Time for T.E.A. and a Fair Tax-Chuck Norris

Time for T.E.A. and a Fair Tax

Tea time anyone? I hope you've joined one of the thousands of T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) parties or Fair Tax rallies meeting across the country on April 15 to protest the outrageous government spending, the deepening of our national debt and the subsequent taxes that are forthcoming because of it. This is a nonpartisan time to rally around like-minded citizens and declare that we're tired of the same old political rhetoric, and we want a better way.

I personally encourage everyone to voice to their representatives that we need to return to a taxation system similar to that established by our founders. They did not penalize productivity through taxes the way we do today. They had no Internal Revenue Service. They believed in minimal taxation.

  • They did not pay income taxes, which were prohibited by the Constitution;
  • They did not pay export taxes, which were also prohibited by the Constitution;
  • But they did tax imports. The founders believed in free trade within our own borders and a system of tariffs on imported goods.

That's a system that makes sense to me. It is a system designed to preserve individual liberty and encourage productivity (through no income taxes and no discouragement of domestic production through export taxes) while choosing to keep taxes as painless as possible (as taxes on foreign imports). And it doesn't require an Internal Revenue Service to run it.

The founders would have been horrified at the bloated federal bureaucracy we have now and the maze of taxes we have to navigate: income taxes, employment taxes, capital gains taxes, estate taxes, corporate taxes, property taxes, Social Security taxes, gas taxes – it was excessive taxation like this that drove the founders to rebel in the first place.

All of the founders were opposed to domestic taxes. They regarded high taxes and aggressive tax collectors as tyrannical, and always to be guarded against. Patrick Henry warned:

Excisemen may come in multitudes; for the limitation of their numbers no man knows. They may, unless the general government be restrained by a bill of rights, or some similar restriction, go into your cellars and rooms, and search, ransack, and measure, everything you eat, drink, and wear." [A prophetic statement?]

The Internal Revenue Service wasn't started until nearly 100 years after the Revolutionary War in 1862 as the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Its creation coincided with the creation of the income tax, which it was designed to collect. Both were the work of President...

...

The best answer is to abolish the IRS, sweep away the present tax code, and implement a Fair Tax that lives up to its name. As Mike Huckabee says, "Wouldn't it be nice if April 15 were just another sunny spring day?" (Mike will be hosting a Fair Tax rally in Columbia, S.C.)

The Fair Tax does away with all taxes and puts in place a single consumptive (fair) tax, which is the closest, practical, modern proposal to the taxation system favored by the founders. With the Fair Tax, the harder you work and the more money you make, the better off you and our economy will be. You pay taxes only when you buy something, which means you can control how much you're taxed, and you're never penalized for working hard.

It's time we had a system through which people didn't have to figure out ways to cheat to save their money. Again as Huckabee says,

The Fair Tax is a completely transparent tax system. It doesn't increase taxes. It's revenue neutral. But here's what it will do. It will bring a business back to the United States that is leaving our shores because our tax laws make it impossible for an American-based business to compete … the Fair Tax was designed by economists from Harvard and Stanford and some of the leading think tanks across the country. …

There are also trillions of dollars hiding in offshore accounts. With the Fair Tax, these people can bring their money back to invest here, which would give a huge boost to our economy. It's the biggest stimulation package there is. As the Fair Tax website says, "Think of it as the world's biggest economic jumper cables!"

If the Founding Fathers were here today, I believe they would support the Fair Tax. As James Madison said, "Taxes on consumption are always least burdensome, because they are least felt, and are borne too by those who are both willing and able to pay them; that of all taxes on consumption, those on foreign commerce are most compatible with the genius and policy of free States."

We don't need more tax reform. We need a tax revolution! And the Fair Tax will provide it. If we all jump on the Fair Tax bandwagon, and demand out representatives implement such a taxation system, we can economically restore our nation and make the financially impossible become possible again.

Friends, we must keep fighting. Join your nearest T.E.A. party or Fair Tax rally, and bring your cell phone too so that you can call Congress and the president to share why you've gathered together (the phone number for representatives and senators is 202-224-3121, and the president's is 202-456-1414).

If you haven't found the nearest location for a T.E.A. party or Fair Tax rally, go to teapartyday.com,fairtax.org or WND's list. Invite your friends, too. And don't forget to bring copies of this article or one like it that explains the Fair Tax, so others can be educated as well. Why wait? Forward it now to everyone you know, and let's get the party rolling!
