Petoskey Tea Party Draws Over 1000!

Petoskey Tea Party Draws Over 1000!

Joe Speaks with Petoskey Tea Party Atendees after the event.

Joe Speaks with Petoskey Tea Party attendees after the May 1st event.

Multiple estimates have the head count at nearly 1200 (my personal count at right around 1000) for the Petoskey Tea Party May 1st.  Speakers including "Joe the Plumber" provided down to earth no fear approach to the criticisms of government overreach, casting disdain for both the Republican AND Democrat elected representatives.  Chided were those who would be politicians seeking employment, over being statesmen who would do what is right and needed.

The Michigan Fair Tax organizers were blessed with a beautiful day to present an explanation of the Fair Tax and how it would be far superior to the current complicated tax code Michigan is currently saddled with.  While recognizing the Fair Tax is a step in the right direction most of the speakers acknowledged Michigan and the nation as a whole have a larger problem when it comes to spending.

HAVE A NICE DAY

Good Morning !!!

Ever  have one of those days, when something seems a  bit 'off' but you just can't put your finger on  it...

Or  it seemed like all the people around you just  wanted to butt heads...

Or just get into some kind of weird tug of  war?

Sometimes you just need to take a fresh new look and get a different perspective on  things.

Remember to try your best to show kindness to others...

(sometimes looking at things from their perspective might help.....)

So, when life gets you down...

Remember to just keep going, and keep your head above water...

And you'll get by with a little help from your friends!

Have a nice day.

Locally Hired Census Workers to Update Address List,
Visit Every Residence in San Joaquin County

 http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/2010_census/010026.html

The Census Bureau is entering the first major phase of the 2008 Census Dress Rehearsal after months of recruiting hundreds of people from San Joaquin County.

Now through the end of June, 480 locally hired workers will update the Census Bureau's address list — verifying, adding and deleting addresses. This is the first major phase of the dress rehearsal for the 2010 Census. The dress rehearsal will be conducted in San Joaquin County, Calif., and in a nine-county area around Fayetteville, N.C.

"The foundation of an accurate 2010 Census — and a census dress rehearsal — is an accurate address list," said Ralph Lee, director of the Census Bureau's Seattle Regional Office. "If we don't know where to send the census form, the people living at that address might not be counted."

Since the last census, an estimated 29,000 housing units and 101,000 people have been added to San Joaquin County. All of California, with its own estimated gain of 774,000 housing units and 2.2 million people, will be canvassed for new addresses in the spring of 2009 for the 2010 Census.

To help ensure the accuracy of the census and improve its efficiency, the Census Bureau has moved away from using pencil and paper to update its address lists and maps. Now, census workers will update the information electronically, using hand-held computers and coordinates from the Global Positioning System (GPS). GPS coordinates will be added to each residential structure to make sure it's recorded within the correct city, county or other geographic unit — which is particularly important when lines for Congressional and state legislature districts are redrawn. The dress rehearsal serves as the Census Bureau's final opportunity to fine-tune its plans for collecting data with the hand-held computers.

Residents can easily identify census workers by their official badges, hand-held computers and census bags.

How Republicans Can Build a Big-Tent Party by DeMint

Sen. Arlen Specter's defection to the Democratic Party this week is no reason for Republicans to cheer. But his reason for leaving -- he faced an unwinnable primary election next year -- is no cause for soul searching. There is a question Republicans do need to ask: What is it that binds our party together?

In the wake of two successive electoral defeats and the likelihood of a 60-vote Democrat majority in the Senate, what does it even mean to be a Republican today? Moderate Republicans are right to remind conservatives that they cannot build a center-right coalition without the center part. And conservatives are right to remind moderates that Republicans only succeed when we rally around clear principles.

The real mistake is that Republicans became more concerned with staying in D.C. than reforming it....

...If the American people want a European-style social democracy, the Democratic Party will give it to them. We can't win a bidding war with Democrats.

Freedom will mean different things to different Republicans, but it can tether a diverse coalition to inalienable principles. Republicans can welcome a vigorous debate about legalized abortion or same-sex marriage; but we should be able to agree that social policies should be set through a democratic process, not by unelected judges. Our party benefits from national-security debates; but Republicans can start from the premise that the U.S. is an exceptional nation and force for good in history. We can argue about how to rein in the federal Leviathan; but we should agree that centralized government infringes on individual liberty and that problems are best solved by the people or the government closest to them.

Moderate and liberal Republicans who think a South Carolina conservative like me has too much influence are right! I don't want to make decisions for them. That's why I'm working to reduce Washington's grip on our lives and devolve power to the states, communities and individuals, so that Northeastern Republicans, Western Republicans, Southern Republicans, and Midwestern Republicans can define their own brands of Republicanism. It's the Democrats who want to impose a rigid, uniform agenda on all Americans. Freedom Republicanism is about choice -- in education, health care, energy and more. It's OK if those choices look different in South Carolina, Maine and California.

A Republican recommitment to freedom and limited government will foster an agenda that will strengthen and invigorate our party. Freedom has worked for our party and our country before. It will again, if we let it.

my comment:

Senator DeMint is trying to be very diplomatic in stating we need to cement planks down for the GOP.  We need to go by the Constitution and if the Supreme Court is not cognate of this, then we have a problem Houston!!!  Earth to Washington, We see you!

Also Senator DeMint stressed the need to protect liberty and freedom from assault, again, standing up for the Constitution in concrete!

Taxation is the controller today.  If we remove our current tax structure the power in Washington fades away to reality and we the people are once again free to prosper rather then be handicapped by our taxes in competition with Foreign manufacturing.  Fair Tax HR 25 PLEASE!!!

Many Americans are disenfranchised and not voting knowing that it would make not difference as both parties are the same, the left dragging us to communism and the right pretending to put on the brakes.  Maybe if the GOP stood on our Founding Fathers Principle, our ranks would swell.  Nearly 65% of the democrats would vote GOP if we were the party of the people rather then the party of the big government corporate types.

RINO's must either read the Constitution and the Federalist papers, include the congressional record of the Bill of Rights Congress and repent of their ways or expect a pink slip from the People.

I am waiting for one of these RINOs to tell me why they think the excise production tax we have now is producing more jobs then the Fair Tax will?

Meet At City Hall on National Day of Prayer, 2009

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord..." Psalms 33:12

May 1, 2009

Dear Mary,

On May 7, I invite you to participate in Meet At City Hall from 12:20 pm to 12:40 pm during the National Day Of Prayer. At thousands of city halls across the country, individuals will gather to pray for a moral rebirth in our country. The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress which encourages Americans to pray for our nation, its people and its leaders.

Your participation in Meet At City Hall is very simple. Simply show up at your local city hall at 12:20 pm on May 7. There will be others present. Spend the 20 minutes in prayer.

If you want to help promote Meet At City Hall, we suggest you invite members of your Sunday School class or church to join together and organize, as you desire. You can invite some public officials, local pastors, church choirs, etc. to participate. The amount of organization and promotion is entirely up to you. Let us unashamedly take our Light from underneath the basket and set it on a table.

  1. Begin praying now that Meet At City Hall will be blessed by God.
  2. Commit now to participate in Meet At City Hall with your presence at your city hall from 12:20 p.m. until 12:40 p.m. on National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 7, 2009.
  3. Help promote Meet At City Hall in your local church and community. Download the reproducible flyer and church bulletin insert. Join with others in helping organize and promote Meet At City Hall in your community.
  4. Ask clergy in your ministerial association, denomination and other groups to join in organizing and promoting Meet At City Hall in your local community.
  5. Begin advertising Meet At City Hall in your church newsletter and bulletin. Please make it an event of importance.
  6. Use the appropriate committee or person in your local church to help organize and promote Meet At City Hall. Ask them to work with other churches in your community.
  7. Serve as a local coordinator for Meet At City Hall. You can help coordinate Meet At City Hall with other pastors and individuals in your local community.

Sincerely,

Don
