The Democrats Move from Obamacare to Thugocracy in One Week

Dear camille,

One week ago, the Democrats rammed their Obamacare bill through Congress over the objections of the American people.  As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised, we're finding out what's in the bill now that the Democrats have passed it.  And what's in that bill - now the law of the land - is a massive expansion of government that threatens to destroy American business.

American businesses are finding out that Obamacare will hit them like an asteroid, costing them millions and possibly billions of dollars off their bottom lines.  This will negatively impact jobs in this strugging economy.  It will make the recession worse.  It will hurt all of us.

Businesses are required by law to report any changes in the economic environment that will impact their stock value or their own economic forecasts, and this week businesses like Verizon, AT&T, Caterpiller, John Deere and others reported the facts: Obamacare places enormous burdens on them - burdens that force them into unplanned spending and may even affect the value of the companies themselves.  Obamacare is turning out to be nothing less than an assault on the millions of Americans who invest in American companies via 401k and other stock-related retirement plans.  If you invest in American stocks or work for an American corporation, the Democrats' Obamacare is an assault on you, your family and in all likelihood, your employer.

Rather than take a second look at their own extreme policies, the Democrats have responded by engaging in overtly thuggish behavior.  Late Friday, Democrat Rep. Henry Waxman, who is chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, sent a letter to CEOs of several American companies, demanding that they appear before his committee and testify about their Obamacare-related reports.

This is nothing less than an attempt to silence American businesses that have already reported the impact Obamacare will have on them, and an attempt to intimidate others that are contemplating doing so - even though corporations are required by law to make such reports known.  Henry Waxman and the Democrats are engaging in the most destructive behavior to American business that this country has ever seen.  We need your help to stop them.

It's time to tell the Democrats to back off and stop trying to intimidate everyone into silence.  Please contribute to your Republican Party of Texas today and help us continue to reveal what's in Obamacare, repeal Obamacare, and replace Obamacare with sensible, market-oriented reforms that will help bring health care costs down.  The Democrats' efforts are not about reform - they are about power and control.  Stand with us now and help us win in November.  Help us defeat Democrats here in Texas so that we can stop radical socialist Henry Waxman and the rest of the Democrats.

For Texas and for Freedom,

Cathie Adams, Chairman, Republican Party of Texas
