A message to all members of Independence Caucus

I just got a call from the Producer of the Washington Times radio show that I am being interviewed on, and he told me that he the plan is for me to go on somewhere around 4:25 eastern...about 15 minutes from now.

The host just introduced Independence Caucus as "like a Tea party on Steroids...a Tea party with a purpose"

Oh, and I only have to follow Thomas Sowell who is on the show right now...no pressure there, eh?

Michigan group: Slash business taxes, expand sales tax

By The Associated Press

January 13, 2010, 7:50PM
A group of Michigan business executives said Wednesday it's encouraging lawmakers to begin looking at restructuring taxes and improving the state's business climate this year. Business Leaders for Michigan would like to slice the state's main business tax roughly in half. The lost money would be replaced by extending the state sales tax to a host of services, while dropping... Full story »

This is old news. This is the liberal attempt to preserve the income tax on we Michiganders.  Why cut only half the MBT?  If 50% brings jobs, what will 100% do?

FairTax also has a prebate program, along with elimination of income tax.  With the Liberal proposal of reducing sales tax to 5.5%, the poor of this State will be hit hard.  Also, the poor will have to pay for the 50% MBT, as all tax on business is passed to consumers, all!

The businessmen here are very correct in the need to act now.  We truly don't want to wait.  If our tax revenue dropped 20% now, what will a double dip recession drop it to, prolonging Michigan's decade recession and presenting a fiscal crisis being as the current legislature is burying their head in the sand and passed on near 2 Billion deficit to 2012.  That is probably a bit of an optimistic number too.

By simply agreeing to put the MIFairTAx on the ballot will create such a flush of business coming to Michigan to prepare to produce for the Nation after this fiscal nightmare ends.  Should the National Fair Tax Act be implemented, possibly due to the leadership of Michigan blazing the way with MiFairTax, our manufacturing will produce another problem, shortage of employees.  What a problem to have.

Constitution & FairTax please

Vermont Secession Candidates in the national news

SHELBURNE, Vt. (AP) — Peter Garritano thinks it's time for Vermont to call it quits with America.

The way the 54-year-old automobile salesman sees it, the "empire" is about to implode and tiny Vermont can lead the way by becoming its own independent republic. So he's running for lieutenant governor, topping a slate of secession-minded candidates seeking statewide offices this year.

Their name: Vermont Independence Day.....

Welcome to the March On Annapolis
March On Annapolis!
Dear R. George,

Tonight I will join with thousands of citizens as we March on Annapolis, at Lawyers Mall.  We are marching to serve notice that the business as usual politics of higher taxes, increased spending and special interest payoffs are over.

If you haven't made plans to join us at the march there is still time to do so.  You can go to www.MarchOnAnnapolis.com for details or just show up at Lawyers Square in Annapolis at the intersection of College Avenue and Bladen Street.

The event begins at 7:00 pm tonight.  My best advice to you is to park at the Naval Academy Stadium and take the shuttle to Lawyers Mall where the rally will take place.  Please note that temperatures will turn colder tonight so make certain that you dress warmly.  Take special precautions to bundle up any children that you may bring along to witness democracy in action.

Please take a moment to view my VIP YouTube invitation by clicking here.  We can win this fight but it will take people like you and I to make the difference.

I hope to see you at the march.  If you can make it, please be sure to look me up at the rally.

Michael Reagan, Son of President Reagan, is named Honorary Chairman of FairTax National Victory Campaign!

Subject: Some big news on the FairTax campaign...

Dear R. George, Michael Reagan

I have some very, very exciting news to share with you.

Michael Reagan, the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan, has just agreed to act as the Honorary Chairman of the FairTax National Victory Campaign!

I wanted to tell you first.

Mike believes, and we agree, that if the FairTax had existed during his father's time, President Reagan would have been a strong proponent.

It's not a hard conclusion to reach given that his father said this: "Our federal tax system is, in short, utterly impossible, utterly unjust and completely counterproductive, it reeks with injustice and is fundamentally un-American... it has earned a rebellion and it's time we rebelled..."

Mike has now agreed to help us get the second American tax revolt moving into high gear. That means a lot of Congressional communications, media work, radio, telephone recordings and television. It means a broader base of supporters behind the beloved legacy of Ronald Reagan, one of our greatest Presidents.

We have needed a strong public "face" and voice for the FairTax and it is hard to imagine a better champion for our needed cause.

I've written you before that this will become the "Year of the FairTax" and this is a big step forward toward that goal.

Please help me welcome the newest leader to our work and a fine person.

I'll have more news about our campaign progress soon and other "inside" details of the work.

Thanks for everything you do and for your steady support. You are the heart of our campaign.

Ken

P.S. I know that you've already signed your name on the petition demanding that the Ways and Means Committee finally hold a hearing on the FairTax. Thank you. Can I ask you now to send this petition to everyone you know? If you click here you'll find an easy way to forward this to your friends and family.

This came to me.  I think many of you will enjoy it. This is a new and awesome video.

Three soldiers wrote the song and put this together in their 'free time' over 'there'.  The singer needs a
Recording Contract when He comes Home!  This is a small way
we can show our troops we support their efforts, their sacrifice and that of their   families.

Please pass this on. Send this around the country to as many people as you can.

Nothing Created Everything:
The Scientific Impossibility
of Atheistic Evolution

By Ray Comfort

Best-selling author Ray Comfort, host of "The Way of the Master" television show with actor Kirk Cameron, says he has a love-hate relationship with atheists. Many apparently hate him, but he loves them.

Comfort, author of the newly released book "Nothing Created Everything: The Scientific Impossibility of Atheistic Evolution," recently challenged an atheist group at the University of California at Berkeley to a debate, but the student group – which describes itself as a forum for open-minded discussion free from intolerance – declined after considering the offer for more than a week, the author says.

Comfort posed the debate challenge in July to a Berkeley campus group called Students for A Nonreligious Ethos, or SANE.

He told the group that if they could find him a professor to give him 20 minutes on why God doesn't exist, he would give him $200 for his trouble.

Comfort then would give the group 20 minutes and then open the floor for questions.

"I want to show the atheists who are in SANE that they were not thinking clearly when the turned down the debate," Comfort said. "Berkeley is supposed to have the reputation of being a radical campus. But these guys are are acting like a bunch of cringing chickens, and I think I know why."

Comfort said the group realized he would say "an atheist is someone who believes that 'nothing created everything' and that is a scientific impossibility."

Comfort pointed out that SANE'S website says they offer "a forum for open-minded individuals to freely discuss philosophical, scientific, religious, political, and historical topics free from intolerance."

They also maintain, he noted, that a "willingness to doubt and desire to hear perspectives define SANE."

"They seem to talk the talk," Comfort said, "but they don't walk the walk. Hypocrisy isn't confined to religion. I made the presumption that any atheist who was in SANE would be ready and more than willing to debate a feeble Christian."

"Nothing Created Everything" offers readers a fascinating and intensely thought-provoking glimpse into Comfort's world-an ongoing dialogue with professed atheists.

Comfort dedicates the book to popular contemporary atheist evolutionist Richard Dawkins, who introduced the oxymoronic concept "Nothing Created Everything:"

"To Richard Dawkins, in the sincere hope that he looks beyond the hypocrisy of organized religion, before he goes to meet his maker."

Dawkins wrote in his 2004 book "The Ancestor's Tale": "The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved literally out of nothing–is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice."

Watch the Preview

"Nothing created Everything" is Comfort's informative, loving, and no-holds-barred response to Dawkins. "Anyone who tries to actually justify that nothing created everything has to be insane," writes Comfort.

"This is a scientific impossibility," he continues, "There's no way to say it kindly, but such thoughts show that the atheist doesn't think, and prove the Bible right when it says that the fool has said in his heart that there is no God."

While supplies last, all copies of "Nothing Created Everything" sold at the WND Superstore will be autographed by Ray Comfort.

American Republic replaced by "Council of Governors"?

Homeland Security Gets Governors' Council

WASHINGTON (CN) - President Obama has ordered the creation of a council of state governors to coordinate joint national security and defense projects, including use of the National Guard, with federal officials, according to a press release issued by the White House.
Obama will select 10 state governors, with no more than five governors representing any one political party. The governors will be joined by the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Secretary of Defense, the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas' Security Affairs, the U.S. Northern Command Commander, the Commandant of the Coast Guard, and the Chief of the National Guard Bureau.
The Secretary of Defense will designate an Executive Director for the Council. Obama's Executive Order does not delegate any specific oversight or management responsibilities to the Council of Governors. Instead it emphasizes the coordination of efforts involving the National Guard, response to civil disasters, and security where federal and state actions overlap.

DOE Adopts New Standards for Washers

WASHINGTON (CN) - By adopting more efficient energy standards for top loading clothes washing machines, the Department of Energy expects to eliminate the need for 18 MW of electricity generating capacity over the next 30 years, according to rules issued by the agency.
Consumers who buy machines manufactured under the new standard, which goes into effect in 2013, are expected to see a yearly reduction in energy and water costs of between $50 and $100. This yearly savings will offset an average increase of $214 in the cost of the initial purchase and installation of top-loading washing machines.
Current standards, adopted in 2007, require top loading machines to have the capacity to wash 1.26 cubic feet of laundry per kilowatt-hour and to use no more than 9.5 gallons of water while doing so.
The new standards will require increasing the washing capacity per kilowatt hour of top loading machines to 1.60 cubic feet and a reduction in the water used to 8.5 gallons. Front loading washers, which account for only 4 percent of washing machine sales, are far more efficient, and under the new standards will wash 2 cubic feet of laundry per kilowatt hour using just 5.5 gallons of water.
Click the document icon on the front page for details and a link to the order. The document icon found with the story "Countries Must Consent To Get Spent Batteries" leads to other new regulations.

Countries Must Consent To Get Batteries

WASHINGTON (CN) - The export of spent lead batteries and other hazardous waste, to countries were metals are reclaimed from the waste, will require a notification and consent form from the destination country, beginning July 7. This will allow the EPA to match the forms against hazardous waste manifests for each import and export shipment.
