Shock Doctrine at U.S. Postal Service: Is a Manufactured Crisis Behind Push Toward Privatization?

Shock Doctrine at U.S. Postal Service: Is a Manufactured Crisis Behind Push Toward Privatization?

*
my comment:

It is true that President Bush shifted to the postal service not only the huge push to expand retirement savings, but he also placed on the back of the Postal Service, the responsibility to pay for the service time retiring postal workers accumulated while in the Military. As a huge majority of workers in the USPS are veterans, this expense came as a great burden, but the USPS could afford it when we had the false upturn in our economy, as federal deficit spending has never ended since Ronald Reagan gave us free trade without changing from our closed border IRS tax structure which puts, embeds federal taxes in domestic goods, including bread.

If we had a open border tax structure like FairTax, the Postal Service would be in great shape and be able to afford the 2006 tax burden shift by the Federal Government onto Postal patrons. Don't forget the burden of 2001 on the postal service was very expensive to protect the use of the Mail from terrorism.

As to closing offices, how many of you stopped the USPS from closing your office to protect your ego, your zip code? The Postal Service has been trying to close offices for many years and has even gone so far as to vet the process and prepare for the day when Congress finally gets it right. In the push, the USPS has asked to close offices that overlap in a five mile radius. So what is in the current legislation?  They are planning to close offices within a two mile radius.  That is like saying, your not closing any post offices. Even in the old days of horse for transportation, it was not considered too far to walk 3 miles for mail. Then came the rural delivery that has saved this nation much in energy and time. Has Congress really found the USPS as too political as a hot potato to do their jobs?

Saturday delivery being dropped will do little to save funds, as it will expand full time employment, making for greater cost over mileage saved in 5 day delivery. Privatizing is not an viable option yet.  I say yet, as new media is making huge inroads into communication.  But we are possibly 30 years away from that, that is if we fiscally survive the next 10 years.

Don't let the Congress destroy this universal service, but also don't let Congress put their head in the sand on closing offices. Five miles is not too far in this day of transportation.  I would think different if the Post Office still had the community service attribute it had prior to reorganizing in 1968, leaving the Post as without any purpose to the people beyond the mail.

As to retirees benefits, they have to match Medical plan payment, no vision or dental, 60% pension of earning when working. In reality, the Postal service has been adjusted over the years with no pay raises, just cost of living which is not reality.

The best cure for the USPS is to get back jobs for everyone, to a point where inflation is due to lack of employees, making for pay raises and opportunity galore. Read this on why our Nation is fiscally about to fall off the cliff and how to cure the USA Fiscally:

USA, Help @DonVolaric retire Sander Levin in #Mi09 to set stage for Carl levin's exit.

Patriots, We have great opportunity to undo the Levins from the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.

After speaking to Don, have found him worthy of our support.  He has established an exploratory committee to achieve funding and has promised to return funds if he decides to not run.  But after having done so well in the past Congressional election in a Democrat district, after reportionment has made the 9th Disctrict more conservative, with truth on his side, Don will win if we step up and support him.

Please make Don a household name across this nation to help clean up the House and Senate. Donate and support this Patriot whose private sector experience will help us cure the entitlement issue, fiscal tax reform need and the need for Constitutional spending by the Federal Government.

Herman Cain Dominates Critical Straw Poll! @theHermanCain

This week, Florida Governor Rick Scott predicted that the winner of the Presidency 5 Straw Poll would go on to win the GOP nomination. He based this prediction off history: every candidate to win the Republican Party of Florida's straw poll wins the GOP nomination, including Presidents Reagan and Bush! That's good news because today HERMAN CAIN WON!

Here are the results from today's important Presidency 5 straw poll in Orlando:
  • Herman Cain: 37.11 percent.
  • Governor Rick Perry: 15.43 percent.
  • Governor Mitt Romney: 14 percent.
  • Senator Rick Santorum: 10.88 percent.
  • Congressman Ron Paul: 10.39 percent.
  • Speaker Newt Gingrich: 8.43 percent.
  • Governor Jon Huntsman: 2.26 percent.
  • Congresswoman Michele Bachmann: 1.51 percent.
In the last 48 hours, we've had our best fundraising since Herman formally announced his bid for president in front of 15,000 supporters at Centennial Park in Atlanta, Georgia. We thank our thousands of new friends and donors for their generosity to our campaign. Please give today!

Still, much more must be done. As we compete with career politicians with war chests stuffed by the Washington elite and special interests, Friends of Herman Cain continues to do more with less. We are good stewards of your contributions, making each dollar stretch farther to help spread Herman's message of "common sense solutions" across America.

That's because Herman Cain knows the value of a dollar. After all, he grew up incredibly impoverished during the Segregation days of the Deep South. His father worked three jobs-- as a barber, a janitor and a chauffer-- and his mother was a domestic worker. Each dollar they earned was spent wisely and saved so they might achieve their American Dreams. And they did.

Now, the American Dream is under attack-- the same dream that sustained Luther and Lenora Cain, Herman's parents, throughout their years of hard work and faith in this country.

The time for the American renewal is now. We cannot wait any longer. We must not tinker around the edges. We must elect a leader whose experience, values and vision can correct the course of this nation and return us to the prosperity envisioned by our Founders.

Please contribute to our campaign today. With your help, Herman Cain will win the ultimate poll: the ballot box. Give whatever you are able today.

Thank you for your continued prayers, support and generosity!

Friends of Herman Cain

P.S. Campaigns are expensive, but Friends of Herman Cain will always remain a good steward of your money and make every dollar count. Please contribute to our campaign today.

Governor Huckabee~ 'What's wrong with America?'

Mike Huckabee

Will America remain the 'last best hope on earth' if we continue to teach our nation's shortcomings?

lohtopb

Many of us are concerned that our education system is failing, but no subject has received less focus on its shortcomings than the area of American history.

In June, the National Assessment of Education Progress (known as the nation's report card) for American history was released. The results were shocking. Only 20% of fourth-graders, 17% of eighth-graders and 12% of 12th-graders scored "proficient" on the subject.

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough called our students "historically illiterate."

There are many reasons this has occurred, but it's clear that teaching American history is not a priority in the classroom.

Unfortunately, focusing on objective historical facts has been put aside and children are no longer learning about the critical leaders and events that have shaped the United States.

Significant time is spent discussing all the things America has done wrong in our 235 years. As a result, little time is left to teach what we have done right.

It's time for a new national focus on the importance and significance of a factual presentation of American history. That's why I co-founded Learn Our History with Brad Saft to counterbalance a blame-America-first attitude among textbook authors and many teachers. Brad recently appeared on my show to discuss the some of the issues surrounding educating children about history.

Click here to see me interview my co-founder and CEO of Learn Our History, Brad Saft.

Unlike the current presentation of our history as one of racism, sexism and imperialism, we seek to help our children and teachers understand who and what have made America the greatest country in the world.

America isn't perfect, but it is "the last best hope of man on earth," as Ronald Reagan said. This is an effort to inform and inspire the next generation of Americans so they can become better citizens.

As the 10th anniversary of the terrible attacks of 9/11 is still fresh in our minds, Learn Our History has released the video "9/11 and the War on Terror" to give parents and teachers an additional tool to explain this seminal event to our children. This important film helps explain to children the reasons we were targeted (not the reasons some politicians would have you believe!), how American values differ from those of our attackers and why and how our nation responded.

As you probably already know, this new video has not been warmly received by some members of the chattering class. We never expected it to be. These are the same people who would rather we focus our children's history education on what America has done wrong.

We realize that much in our culture has become politicized to the point of being polarized. It's clear that some on the left do not want those with differing views to have a voice in America's classrooms, and it is well-known that most of the educational establishment tilts to the left of our political spectrum.

And that's what's wrong with America.

Sincerely,

signature

Mike Huckabee

Health Care Victory For Obama - What It Means For America

Huck PAC Newsletter

There is some important news from last week that I wanted to share with you. The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals has handed President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the supporters of Obamacare a major victory ruling that the Commonwealth of Virginia had no right to challenge the health care law. This means while we wait for other courts to rule we must refocus and redouble our efforts to regain the Senate Majority and win the White House next November.

Remember the House voted to overturn Obamacare earlier this year and Senate Democrats block voted against repeal. They are the first roadblock to repeal and President Obama is the second. Our challenge as a PAC is clear: we must lead the effort to defeat Senate Democrats and also help defeat President Obama.

America needs a Republican United States Senate Majority and we need a Republican President.

We didn't want bailouts, we didn't want the stimulus package and we sure didn't want Obamacare. Thanks to the President and the Democrat Senate Majority we got bailouts, we got the stimulus and we got Obamacare. We need to make sure that changes in 2012.

Huck PAC is preparing to help conservatives win back the Senate Majority and the White House. In every state, we are working hard to raise 100 donations before the end of the month.

Will you make a donation of $5 or more to help stop the budget-busting Democrats?

Will you help us add the Republican votes we need to fully repeal Obamacare?

I have sent this email to just 1,000 voters across your state. I am counting on a response from you. If you would prefer to donate by mail, please send your check to Huck PAC at:

Michigan and America would be better off without Obamacare. Together, we worked so hard to take back the House - now you can help conservatives take back the Senate. Please chip in today.

Fighting for Michigan,

Mike Huckabee

A Special Message from Mr. Herman Cain @TheHermanCain #Tcot #sgp #p2 #teaparty

Dear Fellow Patriot,

I am personally asking each of you to reach out to at least one other person today.  I would like you to share three very important points with them.
  1. According to the most recent Rasmussen Poll, I am within 7% points of beating President Obama.  So, if we were in a one-on-one race, I would only be 7 points behind.  View the Rasmussen Reports Poll.
  2. Considering I only have 50% name ID, these polling numbers are incredible! The President has at least a 100% name ID!
  3. I continue to lead in the Gallup Poll's positive intensity ranking.  Week after week, the numbers remain high, which proves that once people become acquainted with me and my candidacy, they become committed supporters.  Read about the positive intensity rankings.
Our strategy is working. With your help we can continue to build the momentum that will help us win the Republican nomination, and ultimately to defeat President Obama and bring common-sense, business friendly principles to the White House.

Thank you for what you have already done to help. Of course, if you are able, you can help with an additional donation.  But, I also need you to reach out to others and ask them to support us financially.  No campaign can succeed without funding.

As a Herman Cain supporter, you are already doing much to help this campaign. We also need you to continue to help spread the word that a problem solver with Common Sense Solutions is what is needed in the White House. Please introduce your friends to Herman Cain.

We can restore America's greatness and protect the American Dream for future generations and our grandchildren. Please stand with me as I stand with you, fighting for the future of the USA.  Thank you.

-Herman Cain

P.S. Watch me on Cavuto at 4:00 pm ET today to discuss my 9-9-9 plan – Cain's Vision for Economic Growth.

FairTax Friday | The jobs bill IS the FairTax bill! /*\ Will DC move to support We the People?

"Our tax system still siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power and reduces the incentive for risk, investment and effort – thereby aborting our recoveries and stifling our national growth rate." -  John F. Kennedy

Feature Article: The jobs bill IS the FairTax

"Where are the jobs?"  It's a pointed question that stumps our politicians even as it becomes more desperate.

Both major parties have talked about job plans or pivots toward economic growth for years - yet for many, the American dream only seems further away.

The headlines today are even worse:

Job Growth at Halt in US; Worst Showing in 11 Months - "The nation's employers failed to add new jobs in August, a strong signal that the economy has stalled and that policy makers can no longer afford inaction."

Against this backdrop, the FairTax bill, HR 25, offers hope. Millions of dollars in research demonstrate there is a better way to fund our government that will employ willing Americans once again.

The FairTax legislation:

- Creates jobs and restores the Made in America label by making U.S. products more competitive

- Raises real wages over 10% in the first year

- Saves Americans $430 billion wasted yearly complying with 70,000+ pages of tax regulations

- Ends the sale of tax favors to the rich, politically connected and special interest lobbying groups

- Grows the economy and GDP by billions of dollars

- Adds trillions of US and foreign dollars to our economy by making America a global tax haven

- Lowers product costs by removing business taxes, avoidance and compliance expenses hidden today

A research paper adds important details:

"The FairTax dramatically increases investment levels compared to levels that would have been achieved under the current income tax system. Increased savings will stimulate investment and productivity and the economy will grow more rapidly, creating demand for workers and improving job opportunities.

Because taxes on capital are removed, foreign capital will flow into the United States, creating businesses and jobs.  U.S. products competing abroad are free of the hidden costs of taxation while the FairTax is collected on foreign products sold in the United States.  Virtually all economic models project a much healthier economy under a broad-based consumption tax such as the FairTax."

The FairTax is the only jobs bill that will immediately put Americans on Main Street and Wall Street back to work and restore our economy.

What's in the way? The self-interests of politicians who are unwilling to let go of a dysfunctional but personally lucrative tax code and take real reform seriously.

So educate your friends, join a local group and demand your Representative and Senators to co-sponsor the FairTax legislation.

Thank you!

Grassroots Spotlight: DFW volunteers

Determined efforts from volunteers and leaders from the Dallas-Fort Worth area resulted in a FairTax meeting with a Congressman on the Committee on Ways and Means!

Due to busy schedules when they are in their home districts, sometimes it can be difficult to get personal time with your Representative in Congress.  But Susie Robinson, DFW Fair Tax Volunteer and former Fair Tax District Director for TX-24, stuck with the mission until it was accomplished! After many phone calls and working with Congressman Kenny Marchant's (TX-24) staff, Susie was able to secure a 20 minute window on August 15 to discuss the FairTax.

Because of the Congressman's sincere interest in getting his questions about the Fair Tax addressed, the 20 minute meeting with FairTax leaders turned into a productive 45 minutes! While Congressman Marchant has yet to commit to co-sponsor HR 25, the Dallas-Fort Worth Fair Tax Team is confident that the meeting contributed greatly in moving him in the right direction.

FairTax In the News

Congressman: Focus on economyForsyth News

…During Wednesday's gathering, Resident Mark Andrews suggested kicking lobbyists out of Washington, D.C., and asked Graves about the Fair Tax and why existing immigration laws are not enforced. Graves said he's a co-sponsor of the Fair Tax and that it will take time to explain the proposal to other constituencies…

"When you get that Fair Tax code -- you get rid of 60,000 pages of income tax code and all the compliance costs that go with it and all the embedded taxes that go with it and the loopholes -- you're going to get the economy moving again," Graves said…

Support FairTax planThe Morning Call

As the owner of a small business, I am confronted every day with the harsh realities of dealing with our income tax system. I have to keep track of income, inventories, expenses, payroll taxes, including those for Social Security, Medicare and unemployment, and the endless filing of various returns.

I thought all was lost, until I heard about the FairTax supported by Americans for Fair Taxation. It will repeal the federal income tax, both personal and corporate. Imagine the impact on business in this country if there were zero corporate taxes. Businesses from around the world would flock to the U.S. to set up shop. Just look at how many corporations incorporate in Delaware for just that reason. Want to reduce the unemployment rate? I can't think of a better way to do it than to remove all the tax controls on business and let them use those resources to grow their businesses…
