"I endorse the FairTax" - In your words

We asked FairTax supporters on Facebook to tell the public why they support the FairTax as if they were running for President. Hundreds of you weighed in and some of the best explanations are below:

Scott Wrangham - It is fair, simple, creates jobs, is environmental friendly, and shifts the control of taxes away from the government and into the hands of the people like no other piece of legislation in our country's history.

Brian Freeman - Imagine the economic stimulus that our country would have if everyone received the top line of their paycheck next week...

Tim Peterson - It would more effectively fund our government functions by tapping into the highest motives and incentives for compliance rather than relying upon the worst impulses and requirements of state coercion...

Dustin Price - It prevents the tax code from favoring foreign made goods, being a tool of control by the government and there are no loopholes.

Bobby Norwood - It would remove the tax discussion from political discourse and force politicians to focus on real problems and workable solutions. Its effects on the economy are, at this point, beyond debate and above reproach...

Markus Corvenus Fretshredder - Both progressives and conservative's strive for equality in some form. The FairTax gives prebates to the poor and taxes a person not on what they make, but on what they buy

Victoria Blood - The fair tax makes us all equal. Everybody pays. Instantly create millions of new taxpayers. Saves millions of trees by eliminating all that paper work and encourages recycling. Takes the power out of the hands of government and gives it back to the people. It is a truely "progressive" tax. It encourages saving for the things we want so reduces debt. Creates a prosperous environment for business. Equalizes international trade.

Art Williams - It is the ONLY way to remove ALL taxation from poor people... that is, visible and invisible taxes.

Ken Rainoshek - Because it levels the playing field for all businesses and individuals and would be a sonic boom to our economy. No longer would congress be able to pick favorites using the tax code!

Paul Murphy - It is an honest, visible tax. Under a Fair Tax, Americans will know that nobody is getting special treatment.

Ed Gehres - ‎12 trillion dollar influx into the economy, more money in everyone's pocket to spend or save, no IRS or tax day, no more congress wasting time doing annual revamps of the current code and millions of trees saved from the tax code printing presses. What's not to like?

Ted L Bullard - Because the vast majority of politicians are against it. What does that tell you?

The FairTax in the News

Gary Johnson: A GOP Candidate Out but Not Down The Fiscal Times

...Tweeting during the debate last night, Johnson pushed the fair tax, something he's long advocated. "Cain's 9-9-9 plan basically phases in the fair tax," he wrote, in response to the debate discussion about Herman Cain's tax plan. "Just implement [that]." Johnson also tweeted, "I promise to advocate throwing out the entire federal tax system and replace it with the fair tax." And he said, "The criticism of his [Cain's] 9-9-9 plan is justified in that the phasing presents all of the same old problems."...

Ditch tax system? That's fair, group saysThe Chippewa Herald

Bob Martin doesn't mind paying taxes. As a pharmacist at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, the Lake Hallie resident said he is paid a good salary and is glad to pay taxes.

But, he said: "I shouldn't have to pay someone $400 to do them." Martin said the Fair Tax Act of 2011 would change that, revitalize the nation's economy and spur the creation of thousands of jobs, if not more…

Martin said the Fair Tax movement is not affiliated with a political party and is supported by both Republicans and Democrats. "Check your colors at the door. This is tax reform," he said, although he admits more Republican lawmakers support the idea than Democrats…
