Proposal 3: Michigan Energy, Michigan Jobs ~We the People of Gladwin County

25 by 2025, amend Michigan constitution to mandate  that 25% of all energy sold by Michigan utilities come from renewable energies by the year 2025.

A no vote defeats the amendment. A yes vote allows it into our constitution.

¾ of the money behind this comes from clean energy advocates from San fransico and new york, not Michigan. But Michigan energy, Michigan jobs is their theme.

Including the green tech action fund, A California based environmental lobbying group. The folks supporting this ballot initiative have the infrastructure to build alternative energy.  The State has studied that to comply by the year 2025 will require a 12 billion dollar investment in infrastructure for our state, regardless of the technology available or the market conditions. This is a mandate that we make the switch.  And the ones that are funding this have the infrastructure to build windmills, solar, and alternative energies.  The mackinaw center estimates that this would mean 2300 to 4000 new windmills would have to be constructed because of the majority of the energy would have to come from windmills.  But the problem is that wind is finicky, not enough wind, it does not operate, to much wind. It doesn't operate. You can't store the energy very well. And you have to put them in wind traffic areas. There are only certain spots in the state that support wind energy. The studies state that the best place for wind is in our great lakes. Can you imagine going to mackinaw island, on sheplers ferry and on the left is the mackinaw bridge and on the right is a whole wind farm basically, and in a state that is pure Michigan, we promote pure Michigan and the beauty of Michigan, and the promotion of natural resources, putting 2300 to 4000 wind turbines is an incredible thought much less vision.

The folks that have the infrastructure invest a couple million dollars and if this passes they are on the hook for 12 billion in infrastructure improvements to the state energy system.   Kinda reminds me of Wolgast and our last Beaverton School bond on Steroids.

In 2008 there was already legislation passed that requires 10% of our energy to come from renewables by 2025. but that was only a suggestion. Not a mandate.

Nuclear does not qualify as renewable energy.

Michigan has the highest electric rates in the Midwest.

This mandate is on the utility companies. So you can bet the costs incurred by our utility companies will be passed on to the consumer.  YOU and ME

Quick List of "FairTax Fixes" By Daar Fisher in End Class Warfare (FairTaxers)

Just like oil is being called fossil by-product and carbon is our enemy all lies, so is our tax structure our enemy making the flat tax being called reasonable, our true enemy, having sent all our jobs overseas. You cannot have a closed border for trade tax structure in an open to free trade border. It is insanity, in so many ways, mainly a double tax by taxing your cashflow when buying American, to no one's benefit, not to mention the jobs lost.

Quick List of "FairTax Fixes"
By Daar Fisher in End Class Warfare (FairTaxers) (Files) · Edit Doc
Working together, as Democrats, Republicans, Independents, we can fix America's tax system. Here are some of the "fixes" we can expect by passing the FairTax Act:

• Returns control of the family purse to the family.
• Income tax withholding ended.
• Federal gov't paid, only as families spend and benefit.
• "The rate" is an easily-graspable indicator of fed. costs to families.
• Only those who are genuinely subsistent pay no tax.
• The income tax code is gone.
• Social engineering gone with the tax code.
• Lobbyist numbers shrink by half - no more tax favors.
• FairTax far less prone to corruptible manipulation.
• Taxpayers have "new at retail" purchasing "strike" power to express displeasure.
• Externalizes taxes that are buried in prices - makes true tax load visible.
• FairTax can be jettisoned prior to export, enhancing our exports, and correcting current border problems.
• Trillions of dollars resting off-shore is repatriated.
• The U.S. becomes the global home of business formation, and will set the pace for other nations.
• Prebate replaces bureaucratically code-mediated credits, deductions with cold hard cash against EVERY CITIZEN's basic needs.
• No more income tax returns.
• No more IRS.
• No more threats by IRS (audits, interest, penalites, and worse!)
• Income tax withholding ended.
• Minimizes ability of gov't to compete against private enterprise (non-tax exempt) thereby encouraging "limited gov't."
• Eliminates the current "permission to live" income tax (i.e., tax liability ceases to be incurred by working).
• Purported 4th Amendment violations of income tax system, fixed.
• Purported 5th Amendment violations of income tax system, fixed.
• Purported 1st Amendment violations of income tax system, fixed.
• FairTax clears away the confusion and clutter (and intended Congressional obfuscation) that hampers a clearer focus on Congressional spending because it ends the ability of pitting poor against rich.

The FairTax does not purport to fix Congress's spending problem (that is not its domain); it does, however, remove impediments to focusing on the issue, increases taxpayer's ascension to wealth, and provides options to express their displeasure (other than ceasing to make income).

Go to this link to compare your current tax burden to what FairTax will tax you on what you spend, not what you earn. FairTax also takes the tax out of American product so we can get back more jobs then workers:

Todd Akin~ Bait and switch

Friend,

Ever been sold on one thing, then at the last minute the salesman tries to give you something else?

That's exactly what's been happening with pro-life supporters across the nation, when it comes to the corrupt party bosses.

They sell you on one thing - supporting candidates that will protect the unborn. On taking back the Senate from pro-abortion liberals like Claire McCaskill. On going to bat for pro-life candidates like Todd Akin.

Then what happens when one of those candidates, like Todd Akin, actually dares to stand up for life?

The Party Bosses run for cover. They say, "We don't need to be talking about THAT," or "Abortion isn't a 'winning' issue."

My friends, there are some issues that transcend politics, and protecting the unborn is at the TOP OF THAT LIST!

For too long, the Party Bosses - the same ones that left Todd Akin for dead politicially -- have come to you hat in hand for your support. They ask for your money, your time, and your energy.

They raise money from pro-life supporters like you and me, but they then turn around and give it to people like Scott Brown, but not Todd Akin. Enough is enough!

Like Mike Huckabee said: "If they don't want us, then they don't need us."

Mike and Janet Huckabee have donated the maximum to Todd Akin because they know that Todd won't just talk the talk, he will walk the walk.

Todd Akin doesn't shy away from what he believes in. He will STAND UP for life, regardless of the political consequences. Won't you consider helping Todd stand for life?

If you want a candidate who says "NO" to the corrupt Party Bosses and "YES" to life, support Todd Akin today!

Sincerely,

Todd

Paid for by Todd Akin for Senate

Newt Gingrich~This was not a good week for the Democrats 2012 DNC Convention

Having trouble viewing this email? click here.

Dear Friend,

This was not a good week for the Democrats. With a revealing bungle on their platform and a terrible jobs report bookending the convention, President Obama's disappointing address last night was a non-event. Today I'll talk about all of this, plus Bill Clinton's convention speech, and Mike Gallagher's new book, 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate.

Obama Has A Worse Jobs Record Than The Previous 11 Presidents Combined

The drop in the unemployment rate to 8.1 percent wasn't the most important number in today's jobs report. Nor was it the disappointing 96,000 jobs created (far below expectations). The most important statistic was that last month, 368,000 people left the work force, driving labor force participation rate down to the lowest point since 1981.

So the unemployment rate didn't fall because the Obama economy actually added jobs. It fell because so hundreds of thousands of people were no longer counted as actively looking for work.

As my friend David Winston noted, since 1948 there have been 82 months of unemployment over 8 percent. Forty-three of those months have been under President Obama – more than the previous 11 presidents combined.

Clinton Highlights Obama's Failure

One of the best records among those 11 presidents was Bill Clinton, whose tenure coincided with the creation of 22.7 million new jobs.

That's one reason why Clinton's convention speech was such a big risk for President Obama: his own record is terrible in comparison.

Clinton spoke of how Democratic presidents have historically created jobs. The unspoken comparison: unlike Barack Obama.

Clinton cited balancing the budget and welfare reform as historic bipartisan accomplishments during his presidency. But they are unlike anything in Barack Obama's record. Obama has refused to work with a Republican House. He's racked up trillions in new debt and failed to pass a budget. He forced Obamacare and the stimulus through with zero Republican support. And he has gutted welfare's work requirement (regardless of Clinton's attempt to cover for him).

To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen in 1988, "I worked with Bill Clinton and Obama is no Bill Clinton."

In comparison to Clinton, Obama's record is pathetic. And in comparison to Clinton's convention speech, Obama's was a non-event.

It was practically copy and pasted from the same Obama lines we've been hearing for two years now.

A Glimpse Behind The Mask

The most telling moment of the Democratic convention came as they were trying to recover from an astonishing error -- the removal of references to God and Jerusalem from the Democratic Party platform. The Democrats realized after hearing the public's outrage that they'd made a major political mistake, and tried to force the 2008 language back into the platform.

That was where things got interesting.

When Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called the vote to restore the references, he was greeted with a far louder contingent voting against than voting in favor. He asked for another vote, and again the "no's" were much louder than the "ayes." On his third try, the voices against were the loudest yet – but he concluded that in his judgment the motion had achieved a two-thirds majority and , to a chorus of boo's, declared it passed.

Callista and I were honored to have our documentary on Ronald Reagan shown at the Republican Convention. But judging by this incident and what it revealed about the Democratic base, perhaps we should have travelled to Charlotte as well to show the delegates one of our other films: Rediscovering God in America.

A Book About Liberals That Makes You Laugh And Think At The Same Time

Mike Gallagher's new book does just that. It is called 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate, and it is smart, funny, and uses satire and wit to take apart the left.

If Jon Stewart had writers who were conservative, they'd write a book like this.

Mike Gallagher is the perfect person to write this book, because few have his lifetime experience. He's made a life study of liberals, but not in theory, and not at fancy schools. Mike's experience is the kind that matters most – real life living experience.

He spent much of his adult life living in the cauldron of liberalism, New York City. He has something few conservatives have – a SAG card (Screen Actors Guild). Mike has worked extensively on the stage (including a stint on Broadway and the national tour of "Memphis"), and has an appreciation of theater and the arts that positively confuses and confounds his liberal friends.

What did he learn about liberals while working and living with them? Here's what Gallagher says in his prologue: "I learned that they spend a whole lot of time thinking about America's faults, and how to correct them. About America's ills, and how to cure them. Liberals love to hate things most Americans love, and spend the rest of their lives endlessly trying to take those things away from us. And they are convinced they do it all because they love us."

Here are just a few of the 50 chapters, things liberals love to hate: NASCAR and Steakhouses, The Pilgrims and John Wayne, Walmart and McDonalds, conservative women and black Republicans, babies and seniors citizens, the Second Amendment and the First Amendment, the Bible and the Constitution, The South and The West, football and freeways, doctors and patients, apple pie, the V-8 engine, the military, the states, science, teachers and my favorite, algae.

I recommend Mike's book because it does what we conservatives don't do often enough – instruct with common sense insight, real life experience, and a sense of humor. It's the kind of book you can actually give to an independent friend, and even some Democrat friends, and they'll laugh too.

I urge you to pick up a copy or two for you and your friends.

Your friend,

Newt

Mark it for Judge Markey to be the next Michigan Supreme Court Justice

Judge Markey~

Dear Delegates,
Even had I a crystal ball in 1978 when I started law school, I would never have believed the vision: A girl from Saginaw a judge of the Michigan Court of Appeals (COA), the state’s 2nd highest court! There are over 42,000 attorneys in the state of Michigan, 35 of them appellate court judges. (7 MSC; 28 COA) It’s been my greatest privilege and my most sacred responsibility.
During this campaign, I’ve often said I am a Rule of Law judge. And it’s true. But I’m also a real world judge who believes that a little common sense goes a long way. I developed common sense and learned about the real world because I am one of 6 kids and started my post MSU life as a high school Spanish/English teacher, then taught adult education primarily to minority students. Finally, before going off to law school, I worked for 2 years as a caseworker for the Dept. of Social Services, a job that cemented my conservative beliefs and convinced me that the breakdown of the nuclear family was the root of our social/economic problems. Five years of attending the school of hard knocks prepared me well for the rigors of law school where women comprised just 10% of our classes.
I believe with all my heart in the principles and ideals set forth by our founding fathers and that continually guide us through our Constitutions and statutes.
Deciding cases as a Rule of Law (ROL) judge is a process; it does not contemplate a final decision. A ROL judge applies the law to the facts. That determines the outcome. An empathy judge determines what outcome he/she wants, and manipulates the legal analysis to achieve that goal. ROL favors no side, nor political party. The outcome, like it or not, must be consistent with the ROL. Without the ROL, the judiciary cannot provide the checks and balances our forefathers so carefully planned for. So, my fellow conservatives, one cannot “judge” a ROL judge by the outcome of a case, but rather by the way it was analyzed. Every ethical ROL judge has been faced with a decision required by the ROL that was contrary to how he/she might have wished it. That includes me. It’s the long term pattern that demonstrates a judge’s judicial philosophy. What’s vital, is that the ROL be followed and that we choose our judges accordingly.
In the past nearly 18 years, through July, 2012, I have participated in 4,971 cases. I have been personally responsible for writing 1/3 of those opinions because we sit in panels of 3. Less than 1% of the cases I have been on have been reversed—by all accounts, an excellent track record. Taking a case to the COA is difficult and expensive. We handle the most complex and onerous of cases civil and criminal from the lower courts from all counties, tax tribunal, Public Service Commission, Workers’ Compensation Board, etc. We are an error correcting court and must follow all law. Unlike the trial courts, all of our opinions must be in writing and immediately posted for public review. It is the perfect experience for the Supreme Court.
Although also an appellate court, the Supreme Court need not follow precedent. It can change the law and decide matters of public policy, and it frequently does. It accepts few cases from the COA and issues only about 70 to 90 formal decisions a year. Most cases either modify, reverse, or otherwise change the decision rendered by the Court of Appeals. That is its function.
So, a proven track record, a strong Constitutional Conservative, a ROL judge for all the people of this great state for the past 22 years: I’m ready to move up to the next level with my friends and former colleagues, Justices Markman and Zahra.
I hope you’ll MARK IT FOR MARKEY and Markman on Saturday! God bless and see you in Grand Rapids.
Judge Jane Markey

www.janemarkey.com Judge Jane Markey has served for nearly eighteen years on this State's 2nd highest court, the Michiga
n Court of Appeals (COA), the "farm club" for the Michigan Supreme Court (MSC). Five of the seven current Justices, Cheif Justice Robert Young, Stephen Markman, Michael Cavanagh, Brian Zahra, and Justice Marilyn Kelly all served on the COA before ascending to the Supreme Court.
