GOP Leaders meet w/ Big Labor, Lobbyists on Amelia Island

Robert,

Looks nice, doesn’t it?

That’s the Ritz Carlton on chic Amelia Island, Florida.

It was the scene of last weekend’s secret gathering of lobbyists, Big Labor, and GOP leadership who plotted to eliminate Justin Amash from Congress.

An invitation to the wine-and-dine event got into the hands of RedState, which published details about it:

[Top House Republican leaders] are flying to Amelia Island to collaborate with a group dedicated to defeating conservatives in Congress.

The Republican Main Street Partnership’s offshoot “Main Street Advocacy” is hosting the event at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island. . . . According to an email inviting people to the event, “People that are attending have donated $5,000 to the PAC.”

You may remember the “Main Street Partnership.” It’s one of the D.C.-based outfits started by lobbyist Steve LaTourette. The group has made it its mission to come after constitutional conservatives like Justin -- and to back big-government puppets like Justin’s primary opponent -- with a purported $8 million in campaign cash.

The group recently started a super PAC to fund its attacks. As the National Journal reported, the super PAC has received at least $400,000 from Big Labor -- a surprising sum to go to an allegedly “Republican” group.

Which brings us back to Amelia Island . . .

Why would top House Republican leaders speak at a fundraiser for a super PAC whose goal it is to take out conservatives? Why would they lend their names to a group that’s in cahoots with Big Labor?

And why would a congressman committed to individual liberty, economic freedom, and the Constitution be targeted by such a “Republican” group?

The Amelia Island weekend is a good illustration of what we’re up against.

Justin doesn’t host swanky island getaways with special interests. He doesn’t hit the links with lobbyists after a day of cutting inside deals. (Heck, he doesn’t even play golf!)

What Justin does, day-in and day-out, is represent you. Because he’s faithful to our principles, he can’t be bought or manipulated. As long as he’s in Congress, there’s one fewer representative that can be controlled.

That’s why he needs you.

Without your help -- your prayers, your hours volunteering, your donations -- Justin would lose to the Amelia Island crowd. With your help, there’s no number of fancy fundraisers that we can’t overcome.

Thank you for your continued support.

In liberty,

Connie Lemmink

P.S. A weekend flight like the one the lobbyists took from D.C. to Amelia Island costs $255. Would you match that amount to Justin’s campaign?
